Thanksgiving

I’m taking thanksgiving break, November 17th through 24th, so I’m enjoying this great long break. This weekly long break is for my university, maybe other schools as well. American people usually take 4 days thanksgiving break, from November 22nd which is Thanksgiving Day, 23rd , 24th and 25th. 23rd is not holiday though many people take a work off.

On Thursday 22nd, I had a thanksgiving party. My friend invited me. The host family of the party is living near Pacific Ocean, so on the way to go to there, I could see the beautiful blue sea from the car. After biting some snacks, some of us went to park to break a sweat, playing football. It was breathtaking in the beginning but more and more I got tired. My team was defeated unfortunately. After football, we ate great thanksgiving food. Though they were a full of variety and all were delicious, turkey was the best. Finally we went to sea. It’s a little bit cold but beautiful. The water of the sea is cold through the year, so even summer it’s difficult to swim. Since I was born and brought up in Nara which is inland prefecture, so there is no sea, sea is still something rare for me. Anyway, I had good time during thanksgiving break. From tomorrow, school will restart, so I have to keep good health for class.

Happy holidays, Masa! I'm Naoko, an auditing student, from Mr. Sheffner's World News class. I visited San Francisco more than twenty years ago! I was a college student at that time. Time flies! I enjoyed the local food, hiking to the nearby mountain, though I don't remember the name of it. Now you are expecting Chrismas break, aren't you? Enjoy your great holidays in the U.S. and good luck in your studies!

Hi, Naoko.
I’m Masa. Nice to meet you. San Francisco is nice place to live.
My university is in the period of final exam right now, so students are studying hard though most of them are done. I will finish my final in tomorrow, so I’m studying for it now. After the test, my winter break will begin, so my break isn’t yet. I’m really looking forward to it, anyway.
Good luck in your studies.

Hi, mimi.
I’m Masa. Nice to meet you. The experience of a foreign culture gives something valuable to you. Since I started to study overseas, I’ve learned a lot of foreign cultures. It’s obvious I’ve gotten a broader point of view and it makes me stronger in many ways.

Hi, Kanna.
My name is Masa. Nice to meet you.
I’m also college student, junior of San Francisco State University and senior of Tezukayama University. Some of universities and educational organizations have a scholarship for international students. In most cases, it is selected by test, interview and essay, so it may be good idea for you.

Hi, rin.
My name is Masa. Nice to meet you.
I have a lot to say about San Francisco. It’s a very nice place to live. It has clear, no humid and no rain climate through a year. People are also good. They are nice to me, and because it’s one of the biggest cities in the world and many people are living here, I have a lot of opportunities to use English everyday.

I had good time in a series of Thanksgiving holiday. The sea of San Francisco seems too cold to swim through a year, though some people swim in summer but most of them wear a warm suit for swimming. You go to a sea every summer? I envy you. Since I was born in inland prefecture and brought up in there, a sea is still rare for me:-)

I will have a dinner with my friend on Christmas. This upcoming Christmas will be something special for me because it is the first time Christmas as a Christian. I’ve believed in Christianity since I came to San Francisco. You guys have a final exam soon, right? I just finished it yesterday. Have a great Christmas and winter break8-)

Hi, minto. I’m Masa.
I had a good time at the Thanksgiving party. The host family was very nice to me, and I ate a lot of delicious food. Actually, I had thanksgiving party three times in this year, and ate much turkey. I don’t want to eat it until thanksgiving of next year.

Hi, mickey.
My name is Masa. Good to see you.
Of course, it’s enjoyable for me, almost adventure every day. Even though I have some experiences for study overseas, I’m often astonished at foreign culture. I’m living at a dorm with my roommate, and cook by myself. Recently, cooking has become one of my favorite things to do.

Hello, sally.
I envy you, too because I want to see the old year out in Japan, sitting warm under the Kotatsu, eating mandarin, watching special TV program etc... I feel, it’s great I’m born as Japanese, in every time I do stuff like them in winter.

You are going to San Francisco next year? It’s good for you. Well, so far Fisherman’s Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, and Coil Tower were great places to live tough other places were good.
